GT40

Bought last year, as a part-build. This GT40 is a KVA mark III replica. KVA was the original GT40 replica builders. Started by Keith Attwell, Fords museum curator, the man who asked Ford if they wouldn`t mind him taking a mould from an original, and they said yes! Can`t see that
happening these days.
The car itself was relatively complete, but having changed hands, as most GT40`s do, benefited from a complete strip down and re-build.
The story so far is, the body and all interior panels have been removed, the chassis has been repainted and all brakes and suspension have been replaced.
The chassis itself is of box section, modified by GTD to
improve handling.
The engine is a 289ci from a 1965 Ford Mustang, and has been totally rebuilt with all new parts and chrome dress up.
Exhausts have been custom made by Paul, and include two rear boxes and 2 1/2 inch stainless tube.
Gearbox is a Citroen/Maserati 5 speed and Paul has also custom made the rod linkage, not an easy job, as it hangs out the back of the car. Gear selector is in the centre of the cockpit, as the Mark III was a road car.
The chassis is now rolling, and the engine purrs.
